Proto INSA Club
Technical Director for the 2025-2026 season. Secretary, team leader, and member during 2023-2025.
Overview
As Technical Director, I design the architecture and development of our new high-efficiency vehicles for the Shell Eco-marathon. Following a successful tenure where the team secured the Technical Innovation Prize and achieved a top-10 ranking in the Europe-Africa competition, I am currently leading the strategic transition from the Prototype category to the Urban Concept category.
Technical Contributions
Aerodynamics & Surface Technology Spearheading the design of the Urban Concept bodyshell with a focus on drag reduction. Besides geometry optimization (pressure drag), implementing “Sharkskin” riblet technology (surface drag optimization) in collaboration with aerospace partners (Lufthansa Technik and BASF), aiming for an unparalleled drag coefficient, being the first to employ this tech in the competition.
Structural Design (Composites & Topology Optimization) Leading the development of a three-part chassis system featuring a central CFRP monocoque safety cell. The front and rear sub-assemblies utilize topological optimization and will be manufactured via Additive Manufacturing in partnership with CETIM, building upon previous success with integrated suspension uprights (“fusées”) for our last prototype.
Telemetry System Previously co-developed a Python-based telemetry and trajectory optimization suite. During the competition driver inconsistency outweighed vehicle efficiency gaps between teams, so an initial solver was developed on-place leading to a strategy that optimized driver inputs for energy conservation. Then, a proper sensor-rich telemetry system was created. This architecture laid the foundation for the team’s current development of neural network-based autonomous driving system.
Electronics Designed the electronics bay and contributed to the programming of the ECU using Simulink and C++, integrating custom control cards for the electric powertrain.
Management
Restructured the association’s workflow following a generational turnover, establishing new partnerships and administrative processes.
Currently overseeing cross-functional teams (powertrain, braking, electrical) to ensure distinct subsystems integrate into a cohesive and competitive vehicle architecture.
